Denver Zoo powered by animal waste?

DENVER The zoo is planning to break down animal waste products, and then run through a machine to form pellets to burn more efficiently.

The pellets are combined with other materials creating gas-- which turns into energy that powers a generator.

Zoo garbage will also go into the mix.

The zoo hopes to take 90 percent of its waste stream and turn it into gas energy.

The project will be unveiled in June.
