The shelter hopes the cat's real owner will claim the pet in the next few days. If not, Humane Society workers hope he will be adopted by a family that can give him exercise.
Kate Goudshaal of the Humane Society said that "because he's so large, with his large stature, it makes it very uncomfortable for him to be in a regular kennel situation because the kennel is essentially too small."
Goudshaal said that other than his weight, the cat has few health problems.
