Officers searching for the suspect found a man matching a description in the 2500 block of Sepulveda Avenue. They stopped him and asked his name.
Police say that's when the suspect turned around and pointed a revolver at an officer.
The officer fired several rounds.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital.
