Man pistol-whipped during home invasion

PORTER RANCH, Calif. Police were called to a robbery in progress on the 20000 block of Wynfreed Lane at 10:24 a.m. A man had kicked in the door of the home, tied up the resident with electrical cord and pistol-whipped him about the head.

The resident was found on his lawn by his neighbors. He was rushed to a local hospital. He was recovering in stable condition Friday afternoon. He is reportedly 70 years old. His injuries were described as not life-threatening.

Authorities set up a large perimeter in the area and continued searching for the gunman.

The suspect was originally thought still to be in the house. After police sharpshooters searched the home, police cleared the scene. The suspect remained at large Friday evening.

The suspect is described as a man of Korean descent in his 50s, wearing dark clothing and sunglasses.

The area is a gated community with large ranch-style homes.
