Lakers fakers sell knockoff gear

June 2, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
The Los Angeles Lakers are back in the NBA finals, and merchandise counterfeiters are back in business.Local law enforcement is warning Lakers fans: many of the street vendors hawking Lakers jerseys, tee shirts and other items are selling "knock-offs," which are usually cheaper than genuine merchandise, but are also both illegal and often poorly-made.

Fans who want official Lakers or NBA merchandise should shop at authorized retail locations, where the items will come with a hologram sticker and label identifying the products as the real thing.
