Fire destroys NoHo carpet company

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. The fire was reported at /*Century Carpet*/ in the 6900 block of Beck Avenue around 10:45 p.m.; fueled by hardwood flooring and rolls of carpet inside the building, it burned through the night.

More than 160 firefighters battled the flames. At one point the roof collapsed, forcing crews to back off and fight the fire from a distance.

The injured firefighter was said to be suffering from fatigue. He was hospitalized and listed in stable condition.

Crews finally got the fire extinguished just before 6 a.m. Tuesday. The cause is under investigation.
