How does L.A. rate as a 'brand'?

LOS ANGELES The 2009 Brands Index measures consumer perception of 50 major cities worldwide based on a survey of about 10,000 people across 20 countries.

Paris tops the list, followed by Sydney, London, Rome and New York.

Los Angeles ranks eighth.

Those surveyed were asked to rank the 50 cities according six categories including presence, cleanliness and climate, interesting lifestyles and as a good place to do business, find a job or go to school.
