"I grew up playing these jazz standards that my generation would never recognize," said Andrew. "But you go to a senior house and they haven't heard these tunes in years, since they were my age. You play these tunes and they get a lot of satisfaction out of hearing them being played."
Andrew knows he's entertaining them, but he sees a more important reason to play for this audience.
"Anytime you can get the senior citizens to get up, be more active, show a smile or two, you know you're doing a good thing," said Andrew.
Reaching across generations, Andrew's music makes a special connection.
"His music is soul-stirring, and for us older people, we like to remember," said Bernice Kutchins, one appreciative listener. "He's a very fine young man."
He obviously pleases the crowd, but Andrew also gets more than just applause from them.
"It feels great, because I get to bring them satisfaction," said Andrew. "But also at the same time, it's doing something I love that's bringing them satisfaction, so it's a win-win."
Hitting all the right notes, he is our Cool Kid this week.
