3.3-mag quake hits Inland Empire

June 21, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
A small earthquake rattled residents this morning about 55 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The U.S. Geological Survey says the 3.3 magnitude earthquake hit about 7:30 a.m. Sunday in San Bernardino.

San Bernardino County Sheriffs say there are no reports of damage or injuries.

The San Jacinto Fault - an offshoot of the San Andreas Fault - runs through the area.

Saturday night, a pair of small earthquakes shook the Santa Monica Mountains northwest of Malibu. They were centered in a rugged and lightly populated section of the coastal mountain range south of Thousand Oaks.
