Disabled man saved from burning home

HESPERIA, Calif. Flames broke out at a house on Balsam Avenue near Mesa Street. Investigators say that when fire crews arrived, they found the bedroom on fire. Crews rushed in and rescued the man and his dogs.

The man was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he is being treated for burns.

His wife was able to escape the flames on her own. She was taken by ambulance to Victor Valley Community Hospital. The extent of her injuries are not known.

Firefighters managed to put out the flames within 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
