'Superstars' updates classic TV 'Battle'

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
LOS ANGELES "The Superstars" is a new reality competition show that takes a simple premise: Pair up an athlete and a celebrity and have each of the eight teams ride into battle. They bike, they run, they kayak and they attack the dreaded obstacle course.

Paige Hemmis from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is paired with skier Bode Miller. The Olympic skier earned the title "most fearless" from his TV partner.

"He just doesn't care, he'll go out and do anything push it to the limit," said Paige. "They were like, 'We need to make a new Bode rule.' Every competition, a new rule against Bode, because he was always pushing to the limit. He was fearless."

Actor David Charvet is also among the celebrities who journeyed to the Bahamas for this unique competition. His secret weapon behind the scenes was his significant other, "Dancing With the Stars" champ Brooke Burke, who was able to guide him through the world of reality TV.

"I actually relaxed while he worked his butt off," Brooke said.

The couple was in the Bahamas filming for about two weeks.

"My partner is Jennifer Capriati," said David. "We had a really, really great time at the Atlantis. A lot of drama and a lot of surprises."

"The Superstars" begin round one of play Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on ABC.
