Mayor Villaraigosa lobbies in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO The specific purpose of the trip for Villaraigosa and the other mayors was to persuade lawmakers not to take gas tax revenues away from cities to solve the state's budget crisis.

This is Villaraigosa's second trip to the Legislature in three weeks.

An aide for the mayor says the state is looking at taking $57 million in gas tax money that was previously earmarked for Los Angeles.
