Along with her younger sister Madison, Katie has worked to give kids at the house food and reassurance.
"It feels like I'm making a small difference in this kid's life. It feels like I've done all this work to make this one kid feel they are special," says Katie.
Katie has kept the project going for the past six years, and sees no reason to stop.
"I'm going to keep doing it. When I go to college, my sister Madison is going to be taking over this ... So that hopefully we can do this as long as we can," says Katie.
Katie is emotionally connected to the nourishment she gives the young ones in the Corona neighborhood.
"Joy," says Katie. "It's like I've done something good. And I feel like I'm the one who got something out of it."
Supplying the most basic need for babies, Katie Yancu is our "/*Cool Kid*/."
