Bear breaks into San Bernardino Co. home

SAN ANTONIO HEIGHTS, Calif. "We were in the library and heard some noise and thought it was the construction people next door," said the homeowner.

He said his wife nearly ran into the bear in the kitchen.

"She screamed a little four letter word, and then we went and got our guns and called 911," said the homeowner.

The couple said the bear rummaged through the refrigerator, pushed aside the vegetables and went straight for a box of chocolates. They also said the bear tried to open a bottle of champagne, but was not successful.

The animal ran out the screen door and escaped into the woods before fish and game wardens arrived.

The homeowner believes the bear got into the home through an open patio window.
