Bakersfield man has skull restored

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. Lee Lyle fractured his skull during a motorcycle accident last year.

Bleeding and swelling forced surgeons to remove part of Lyle's skull and store it in his stomach for preservation.

Lyle couldn't afford reconstructive surgery and battled insurance red tape for months, but a surgeon at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital stepped in and offered his services for free.

The 53-year-old is doing fine, and his staples come out next week
