At New York's Brooks Atkinson Theatre Wednesday, 810 air guitarists performed at one time.
That number, which included the members of the Broadway musical "Rock of Ages", was certified by an official from Guinness World Records.
The group rocked out to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing'" for 2 minutes, 34 seconds.
The 2007 National Air Guitar champion, William Ocean is credited with teaching the performers how to play the air guitar.
Their effort officially beat the previous Guinness record air guitar ensemble of 440 people.
