Samantha Harris ready for Broadway

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
NEW YORK CITY This week, Harris made her Broadway debut as the murderess with the heart of gold, Roxie Hart, in the musical, "Chicago."

So is singing Samantha's hidden passion?

"It's something I've always loved," Samantha said. "Family is musical family. That's what played in our house, sang in three-part harmony. This just feels natural, but a side people haven't had the opportunity to see.

"I am having the time of my life, a dream come true. Idea of pounding pavement in New York City is too darn scary, but I'm happy to have this excitement in my life right now."

Samantha says she's honored to following such famous footsteps in the role.

"The day that I walked on the block, Chandra Wilson's sign down, mine up... my heart leapt, so incredibly thrilling," Samantha said. "It's an incredible honor, and following in footsteps of previous Roxie's, from Cheetah Rivera, Brooke Shields, Melanie Griffith. All the different stars who have come in. To be even considered... [I'm] without words."

Samantha will be kicking up her heels at the Ambassador Theatre in New York through mid-August. We'll see her back on her "Dancing With the Stars" duty when that show returns September 21.
