New poll shows Obama support waning

WASHINGTON The new ABC News-Washington Post poll shows the president's overall approval ratings dropping to 59 percent, a ten-point drop from their high earlier this spring. It's the first time his approval rating has fallen below 60 percent since he took office.

Thirty-seven percent of Americans now have a negative view of the president's job performance.

Obama's personal approval rating has always fared better than his policies. The same poll shows the president's approval rating on the issue of /*health care*/ has declined from 57 percent to 49 percent.

/*President Obama*/ will make another pitch for his health care plan at a prime-time news conference Wednesday and at a town hall meeting in Ohio on Thursday.
