Mercury in dental fillings not risky

The mercury risk from silver dental fillings may not be as dangerous as once believed.Federal health officials have done an about-face of sorts, saying the silver fillings contain too little mercury to harm most people, including young children.

The FDA says only people specifically allergic to mercury should avoid the fillings.

Last year, the agency issued a precaution on its Web site raising concerns about mercury vapors.
