SoCal Edison helps recycle old fridges

SANTA ANA, Calif. The power company will pick up an old refrigerator or freezer free of charge, and mail the customer a $50 check.

According to /*Southern California Edison*/, 90 percent of each recovered appliance is recycle or reused to limit the impact on landfills.

Over the past 15 years, the company says it has recycled more than 750,000 units.

As a further incentive for customers, Southern California Edison offers a $50 rebate to customers who purchase a new Energy Star-qualified refrigerator.
