Cool Kid helps to shape young minds

LOS ANGELES "I hope I'm there to give them, you know, make it a little fun for them. Hopefully they'll enjoy themselves while they're learning or reading," said Aimee.

As fun as she makes it for the kids, Aimee is serious about shaping these impressionable young minds.

"I'm always careful. I always have to think about what I'm saying to them and what I'm telling them because I know it could possibly be permanent," said Aimee.

The teachers she works with see Aimee as the perfect ''connection" between them and the students.

"The great thing about Aimee is she would take an interest in the kids. And it's just so neat when an older child takes an interest in a younger child and is willing to help them," said teacher Kim Libby.

Aimee can see the results of her work now and she looks forward to the benefits in years to come.

"I hope when they're older or in high school they remember, 'Oh, this girl like helped me out the third grade classes and maybe I want to do something like that too to help give back,'" said Aimee.

Sharing all the good that comes from volunteering, she is our /*Cool Kid Aimee Shimizu*/.
