Suspect sought after attempted abduction

ANAHEIM, Calif. Deputies said the incident happened around 3 p.m. Saturday behind an apartment complex on West Broadway in Anaheim. Investigators said the girl was on her scooter taking the trash out to a dumpster when the suspect pulled up in his car.

She told detectives that the man yelled out a name and asked if she knew the person. When she said 'no' the suspect drove to the end of the driveway and got out of the car, trying to convince the little girl to get in the car.

"He reached into his pocket, pulled out some cash, asked the young girl if she wanted some money to come inside the car and talk to him," said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The child was able to ride away from the suspect who drove off, but not before the girl's father got a good look at him and his car.

The vehicle is described as a newer model 4-door maroon Lexus with maroon interior and tinted windows. He also got a look at the license plate. The first six characters of the California license plate are 2VC945, with a missing seventh digit.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years old, around 5 foot 6 with a slender build and spiked hair.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at (866) TIP-OCSD (847-6273).
