Mother of wandering boy found

WATTS, Calif. The 4-year-old boy was at the Southeast police station for about six hours.

Police say the boy was found at about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, wandering around 91st and Sanford Avenue in South L.A. Police picked the child up and talked to him, but he couldn't tell officers his last name, or where he lived. However, the boy did tell officers his name was Tyre.

Police drove the child around the area, looking for his parents, but they could not find them. So police brought the child to the station and called the Department of Child and Family Services. DCFS officials picked the child up Wednesday afternoon. Not long after, the child's mother came in contact with police.

The child was with DCFS as of early Wednesday evening, but was later reunited with his mother.

Authorities did not release details of why the child was left wandering around for so long.

The case is being handled by DCFS.
