Cool Kid wants to impacts lives of others

CORONA, Calif. "I'm trying to do my part as a citizen to help and try to contribute whatever I can, anything I can," says Juan.

It is at the Circle of Hope shelter that Juan finds the two-way benefit of reaching out to those who need help.

"Please and thank you ... they're powerful words," says Juan. "And you could tell they're really grateful for getting whatever they can right now. And we feel even greater being the ones giving the stuff to them."

With a family member requiring special education, Juan is looking at a career that gives him another way to impact the lives of others.

"I would just love to be a teacher to kids with special needs, that need that extra help," says Juan. "Once again, the feeling that you ... change someone's life is great."

His drive to get involved is not something he wants to keep to himself.

"I try to get my friends to do it, my family members," said Juan. "One day, I'm going to have kids and ... we're all going to be going as a family, helping whatever we can."

/*Cool Kid*/ Juan Alvarez is always doing his best to be there for kids with special needs, families living through tough times and cancer patients looking for hope.
