Man trashes grocery store, starts fire

NORWALK, Calif. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department says the 21-year-old man broke several bottles, destroyed check-out stands and even started a small fire at about 1:30 a.m. at the Fresh and Easy market at 10930 Rosecrans Ave.

The man was still inside the Fresh and Easy store in Norwalk when deputies arrived.

To get him out, several deputies had to pull him through the broken glass door.

Authorities said the man destroyed about $1,000 worth of produce and beverages and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The man was taken to a hospital to get checked out.

He now faces charges for burglary, arson and vandalism.
