Road construction could snarl PCH

SANTA MONICA, Calif. A project to repair the bluffs off Pacific Coast Highway is planned, but many are worried about the traffic it may cause.

This new project could end up shutting down one lane of traffic on PCH for months. The project affects the northbound lanes of PCH from the California Incline to Adelaide Drive.

One of the northbound lanes would have to be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. This closure would last until April 2010.

The goal of the project is to stabilize and decrease the deterioration of the bluffs.

Officials hope to start the project in October, but are still looking at their options.
