Study: New lice treatment kills eggs

A new study found /*NatrOVA*/ to be twice as effective at getting rid of /*lice*/ than the traditional treatment.

The current treatment involves washing the infested hair with Permethrin shampoo, more commonly known as "Nix." The shampoo is designed to kill the lice but it does not kill the eggs, so parents are often left with the tedious task of combing through the lice-infested hair to remove each egg by hand.

The study found that NatrOVA kills the eggs.

Government approval of NatrOVA is currently pending.

Each year as many as 12 million children nationwide become infested with head lice.
