Fire burning above La Canada-Flintridge

LA CANADA-FLINTRIDGE, Calif. The fire, which broke out at about 3:20 p.m. near the Angeles Crest Highway, has burned about 20 acres.

Portions of the /*Angeles Crest Highway*/ above La Canada-Flintridge were closed down as water dropping helicopters and hand crews began moving into the area.

No homes are being threatened, but voluntary evacuations are in effect in Rainbow Ranch, along Highway 2 north of the golf course in La Canada.

There is no connection to the Morris Fire about 25 miles west. The /*Morris Fire*/, which broke out Tuesday afternoon in the Angeles National Forest near the Morris Dam, has burned more than 1,700 acres.

So far no structures have been lost in either fire.
