Public input wanted for new LAPD Chief

September 2, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
The police commission is holding five community meetings to give the public an opportunity to say what they'd most like to see in a new chief. The first meeting was held Wednesday at Friendship Auditorium, 3201 Riverside Drive near Griffith Park Boulevard.

Chief William Bratton's resignation is effective Oct. 3. A replacement will probably not be selected by then, so the mayor will most likely appoint an interim chief.

The next Police Commission community meeting will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Department of Water and Power Community Auditorium, 4030 Crenshaw Blvd.

Other meetings will be held on September 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Felicia Mahood Senior Center, 11338 Santa Monica Blvd., West Los Angeles; and Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at One Generation, 18255 Victory Blvd., Reseda.
