Calif. security funds spent improperly?

SACRAMENTO, Calif. The Center for Investigative Reporting uncovered thousands of dollars being spent on unapproved items.

So far, $1.9 billion has been awarded to the state, but not all of it is being spent properly. Officials in Los Angeles County used Homeland Security to purchase a $20,000 /*Chevrolet Monte Carlo*/, a $1,500 shotgun safe and more than $3,500 on replica firearms.

None of those items are approved for Homeland Security grant funds.
