Man accused of assaulting autistic girl

SANTA ANA, Calif. On Aug. 19, prosecutors say 27-year-old Daniel Vlas Flores approached the girl as she played with another child at her apartment complex in the 7800 block of Sycamore Avenue in Huntington Beach.

According to investigators, Flores said he needed help moving furniture into his apartment and asked the victim for help.

Flores then alleged grabbed the girl's hand and led her into his nearby apartment, where he allegedly assaulted her.

Investigators say the girl escaped and told her mother. Flores was arrested the same day.

Flores is charged with one felony count each of kidnapping to commit a sexual offense, sexual intercourse with a child 10 years old or younger, sexual penetration of a child 10 years old or younger and sentencing enhancement allegations for substantial sexual conduct with a child and great bodily injury to a sexual assault victim.

If he's convicted, Flores could be sentence from 25 years to life to up to 65 years to life in prison.

Authorities say Flores also lived in Los Angeles, and they're continuing to investigate him.
