Former LAUSD superintendent arrested

A former Los Angeles Unified School District superintendent has been charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly using a badge to pull over a driver in Pomona.Ruben Zacarias was arrested on July 23rd.

Authorities said Zacarias told the female driver to pull over because he was "a cop," and flashed a badge and an ID card issued by the L.A. school police.

Zacarias, 80, says the whole thing was a misunderstanding.

His attorney appeared in court Friday, but no plea was entered. Zacarias was ordered to return to court Sept. 29

Zacarias spent nearly 34 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District, including 2 1/2 years as superintendent in the late 1990s.
