Man says he's Dugard's biological father

LOS ANGELES With attorney Gloria Allred by his side, an emotional /*Ken Slayton*/ struggles to read a prepared statement pleading to be united with /*Jaycee Dugard*/ and her two daughters.

"Our hearts are open and we long to be loving supportive family to her and the children," said Slayton.

Slayton, 63, believes he is Dugard's biological father. The Vietnam vet claims he had a brief affair with Jaycee's mother /*Susan Dugard*/ in August 1979 at Lake Havasu. She later told him she was pregnant.

"Ken and Susan lost contact and about one year later, a friend told Ken that Susan had given birth to the baby and that the baby looked like Ken," said attorney Gloria Allred.

Slayton says when Jaycee disappeared 18 years ago, the FBI informed him that Jaycee's mother had identified him as the father.

Jaycee Dugard was snatched outside her South Lake Tahoe home when she was 11-years-old.

Her alleged kidnappers Phillip and Nancy Garrido held her captive in their backyard until she was discovered last month. She is now 29-years-old and the mother of two daughters whom Garrido allegedly fathered.

"We are reaching out today and hoping and praying that she will hear us and take the first step to confirm that she is my daughter," said Slayton.

Ken Slayton says that he's speaking out publicly because he doesn't know where Jaycee is and he's hoping she'll come forward.

He wants testing done to confirm that he's the father. Slayton says he and his family want to provide the love and support for Jaycee that she hasn't had in 18 years.
