Two pairs eliminated on 'Dancing'

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
LOS ANGELES Macy Gray must have been singing the blues Wednesday night, because she wasn't talking. On the other hand, actor-comedian Ashley Hamilton took the agony of defeat in stride.

"I don't want to go back to my day job, which is slapping tanning oil on my dad's back, so I'm hoping I don't have to go back to that tomorrow," said Ashley Hamilton.

Ashley didn't make it as far as his dad, George, did when he danced on the show. But he made it on the show, and he considers that a victory in itself. Now, it's back to the stand-up stage.

"And I allow you to make fun of me, too," said Ashley's partner, Edyta Sliwinska.

"Well, I think people were laughing at me more when I was dancing than when I'm actually up on stage, so I don't know if that's necessarily a good sign," said Ashley. "Maybe I can do a dance/comedy act or something."

Singer Macy Gray was the season's first female star to get eliminated. She's on a short list of celebrities over the years who wouldn't or couldn't talk to the press after getting the boot.

"For someone not to want to come out and talk, I think that it's, you know, human nature, you know?" said Derek Hough. "I think it's hard to control your feelings sometimes so sometimes you need some time by yourself."

Fourteen teams now remain in the competition -- one with a pain in the neck.

"You're going to dance with a broken neck. I don't care. We're not pulling out," said Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Debi Mazar's dance partner. "If this is going be serious, she's going to find out tomorrow, you know, we're done. But -- "

"I'm fine! It's a muscle tear. Big deal. We'll take some drugs," said Debi.

The dance teams are already looking ahead to Round Two next week.

"We already finished the next dance," said Louis Van Amstel, Kelly Osbourne's dance partner.

"He's like, 'We're rehearsing today,' and he's like, 'They're going to be five minutes,' and he's like, 'Tango,'" said Kelly. "And i'm standing there, I'm like, 'OK.'"

"There's another side of Tom DeLay that no one's seen yet, which is the arrogant and snappy side that he has," said Cheryl Burke, Tom DeLay's dance partner. "He has fire. Tom DeLay has lots of fire, that's for sure, and that's going to come out in our Tango next week."

"We're dancing to 'The Muppet Show' and we're going to be Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog," said Karina Smirnoff, Aaron Carter's dance partner.

And now for a Melissa Joan Hart moment involving her past as a "teenage witch."

When asked if she found it a little unusual that Sabrina the Teenage Witch got a score of "6-6-6" for her first dance ...

"And my trailer is number 13, how cool is that?" said Melissa. "My trailer is 13, we got 6-6-6, and how funny is this? My lucky number is 18, so 6-6-6 equals 18, is my lucky number -- everything's lucky!"

There will be more dancing on Monday night.
