Yom Kippur began at sundown Sunday

LOS ANGELES Hillel at Cal State Northridge invited the campus community to a candle lighting and Kol Nidre ceremony.

Yom Kippur is the day Jews examine their lives, and ask God for forgiveness for any sins they may have committed over the past year.

According to the Torah, Yom Kippur is the day on which Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the second set of commandments.
