Deputies shoot, kill suspect in Azusa

AZUSA, Calif. Deputies say the shooting happened when they were responding to a burglary call at Gladstone and Cerritos at about 1:30 a.m.

Police were trying to detain two burglary suspects when one of them pulled out a knife. One of the deputies opened fire.

The suspect, described as a man in his late 20s or 30s, was declared dead at the scene.

Police said a knife was recovered at the scene.

No deputies were injured.

Sheriff's homicide detectives are investigating the shooting.
