Same-sex couples included in census

LOS ANGELES When the /*U.S. Census Bureau*/ starts counting all Americans next year, it will also be counting the number of same-sex couples living together and the same-sex couples who have married, as well as how many children these couples have.

The census says it hopes the survey will be "a census that reflects America's population."

A coalition of gay advocacy groups is launching an educational campaign called "Our Families Count".

The advocacy groups hope when the final census numbers are released in 2011, it will help same-sex couples fight for important recognition and family services.
