United Airlines gives new baggage option

October 6, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
United Airlines is trying a new tactic to make baggage check-in charges a little more convenient for its customers. On Monday, the airline announced the launch of its new Premier Baggage service.

For an introductory, flat rate of $249 customers can check two standard bags every time they fly on a United or United Express operated flight during the course of a year. The flat rate includes domestic and international flights.

A single subscription applies for up to eight companions traveling under the same confirmation number.

However, the Premier Baggage subscription does not cover fees applied to oversized and overweight bags. It also does not pay for the cost of checking more than the standard two bags.
