High-speed chase ends with deadly crash

LOS ANGELES A California Highway Patrol officer was trying to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation Wednesday afternoon, but instead of pulling over, it took off at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle lost control and hit another car before slamming into a utility pole at 11th and Vernon avenues.

The car ended up wrapped around the pole.

One of the passengers in the car was killed. Two others were hospitalized.
