L.A. to test drunken driving monitors

LOS ANGELES Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill Sunday that would require convicted drunk drivers to have an ignition lock device installed on their cars.

The drivers will be required to blow into the device that can detect alcohol on their breath.

The monitors will keep their vehicles from starting if the driver has been drinking.

The program will be tested in Los Angeles, Alameda, Sacramento and Tulare counties.
