LAX FlyAway expanding to Orange County

LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners approved a three-year operating agreement with a bus operating company Tuesday to add a /*FlyAway*/ route to and from Irvine Station. That's more than 40-miles in one direction.

Service is scheduled to begin November 16 with six daily trips in each direction using 22-seat, compressed-natural gas buses. One way fare will be $25 for adults. Up to two students in grades eight and under may ride free with each paying adult. All children younger than five ride free.

"We are increasing LAX's contribution to reducing regional traffic congestion and improving air quality, while better serving our Orange County customers, especially those travelling internationally," Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey said in a statement.

The Irvine Station is located at 15215 Barranca Parkway. It will have 500 parking spaces.

The other FlyAway locations are in Westwood, Van Nuys and Union Station.
