Thousand Oaks teen found at youth center

VENTURA, Calif. Authorities said Alexandria Phipps, an honors student at Westlake High School, had been missing for two days. She was last seen leaving her home on Eric Place Monday morning to walk to school.

Police said Wednesday they received calls from people after seeing broadcast reports about the missing teen.

Somebody at the youth center was watching the news Wednesday morning, saw Phipps' picture, recognized her and contacted deputies.

Authorities retrieved her and reunited her with her mother.

They said Phipps apparently decided to take a bus to the youth center on Monday.

She was not abducted and was not traveling with anyone.

It is unclear why she decided to leave home.
