Funds for domestic shelters approved

LOS ANGELES Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a bill restoring more than $16 million to the shelters, keeping them open for a year.

The money is an emergency loan from a fuel and vehicle technology fund and must be repaid.

The governor Wednesday encouraged lawmakers to look for a permanent funding solution so victims of domestic violence will have a safe place to go.
