LAPD chief candidates being interviewed

LOS ANGELES On Wednesday, commissioners interviewed eight prospective chiefs.

LAPD Chief William Bratton officially leaves his post October 31. The 62-year-old already has a new job lined up at a global security firm. Bratton has said he hopes someone from inside the department succeeds him, specifically a member of his command staff.

The Police Commission is expected to narrow down the applicant pool to three candidates and then send those names to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by mid-November.
