Police responded to a burglary call at a home on the 1000 block of South H Street just before 8 a.m. that morning and found a 36-year-old victim who said a man assaulted her in her home.
The victim was able to fight the attacker off.
The suspect fled in a white Ford Explorer, but the victim followed, grabbed a potted plant and smashed in the windshield of the vehicle.
She then grabbed another plant and smashed out the driver's side window.
The suspect drove off, but police were able to track down the car. They used nearby surveillance videoto lead them to the suspect and make the arrest.
Bail for Velazquez has been set at $250,000.
