Riverside graffiti vandal arrested

RIVERSIDE, Calif. Alex Villa, 19, was arrested on Oct. 18, along Chicago Avenue in Riverside.

Police were responding to calls that several suspects were vandalizing a portion of the 215 Freeway, when they came across two men that matched the suspects' descriptions.

Officers found that one of the men, Villa, was in possession of graffiti tools and placed him under arrest.

Upon further investigation, detectives determined that Villa is believed to be linked to a rash of vandalism crimes in the area of the 91, 215 and 60 freeways over the last several months.

It's estimated that Villa caused around $20,000 in damages to local freeways, billboards and other local businesses.

Police also believe there may be other potential vandalism victims that haven't reported the damage.
