Latifah's new album made from experience

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
LOS ANGELES /*Queen Latifah*/ is happy to be returning to her hip-hop music roots with her latest album, "Persona." She performed on "Good Morning America," where she introduced the album she says was really 20 years in the making.

"The thing that makes this different is its definitely hip-hop," said Latifah. "I have brought all my experiences together from musicals to jazz, touring to acting, and put it all into this album."

She also brought her love of "Fast Cars." That's the name of her latest single and when she and several of her musical friends made the video for the song, she mixed that with her own philosophy for staying strong.

"People wonder how I have stayed in the business. It's because I've stayed in my lane," said Latifah. "I have done what is true to me. There's always going to be a lane for me."

Queen Latifah performed earlier this season on "Dancing with the Stars." And you can see her next week, when she and her band come to L.A. to play the House of Blues.

"I prefer those kind of venues. I feed off the energy," said Latifah. "You feel like you had an experience and didn't get lost. I'm excited about coming here on the 4th."
