2 killed, 2 hurt in 2 unrelated stabbings

HIGHLAND PARK, Calif. "I have four victims and two crime scenes," a watch commander at the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Station said.

The fatal stabbing was reported around 3 a.m. in the 100 block of East Avenue 45 when two neighbors spent the night drinking and arguing when their altercation turned physical.

According to police one man fatally stabbed his neighbor and went back inside his home. Minutes later a friend of the victim apparently sought revenge and stabbed the other man to death.

The third man is still at large and no suspect description was immediately available.

About 15 minutes earlier, an unrelated stabbing took place a mile and a half away on North Figueroa Street near Avenue 60. Two people were injured, but have not been reported dead.

Los Angeles police said the two incidents do not appear connected in any way.
