O.C. courts to close earlier on Fridays

SANTA ANA, Calif. The shorter Friday hours are meant to help court employees catch up on work from the mandated once a month, daylong closures at courthouses.

Courtrooms and public service windows will shut down at 3 p.m.

Traffic tickets can't be paid, and you won't be able to get court records, but limited emergency services, such as temporary restraining orders, will available from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

Traffic tickets can still be paid online at occourts.org or at courthouse drop boxes.

The move is not permanent. Court officials want to evaluate it.
