Local veteran's wife won't be deported

VAN NUYS, Calif. Jack Barrios, 26, said his wife, 23-year-old Frances, was facing deportation because she was brought to the U.S. illegally as a child from her native Guatemala.

However, the Department of Homeland Security canceled deportation proceedings and granted her permanent residency.

The couple has two children. If Frances Barrios had been forced to leave, she would have left her two kids with their father, who suffers from post traumatic stress disorder following his return from Iraq.
